CHARACTER INFORMATION

NAME: Daniel Thomas "Danny" Rand
CANON: Marvel Cinematic Universe/Netflix series
CANON POINT: End of Defenders
AGE: 26

HISTORY: Wiki Link

PERSONALITY: There are many different facets to Danny Rand. There is his childish side that is innocent and pure. There is the man who has suppressed his feelings and his guilt for fifteen years of his life and then there is the Iron Fist with a mission to destroy the hand and protect K'un-Lun.

At first glance, Danny appears to be childish, innocent, immature, naive and overly compassionate. He's been removed from the world for fifteen years and while he continued to interact with people during that time, he was removed from corporate corruption, greed and vanity. This makes Danny appear very young and idealistic. He believes in the good in people. That people will trust him instantly and take him at his word. He slowly learns that the world is more complicated than that.

Due to this, Danny is also easily manipulated. Madam Gao uses this several times through the show to control Danny's actions and gauge the current Iron Fist's abilities. Though even with her coaxing, Danny has never killed anyone. He values life too much to take it from someone, even if he happens to hate that person. Danny often struggles with killing people and the thin lines between what's right and what's wrong. If you peel away all of his issues he's a boy who never got over the death of his parents and is looking for something to fill that void. At first he thought that the Iron Fist would fill that void. When it didn't, he left K'un-Lun and tried to find the pieces of his past for a connection to his family. He suffers from survivor's guilt, after being the only one in the plan crash to survive and this has bred a deep inner conflict. Thinking about the plan crash has him act sporadic and angry.

Over the last fifteen years Danny had pushed down these thoughts and feelings, never dealing with them. This makes him angry, impulsive and often leads him to lose control. When faced with hostility Danny gets overly defensive and is instantly putt on edge. He's quick to start a fight and appears to lack intelligence or forethought in these moments. It's a loss that he is slowly dealing with but it's taking time for him to find what he's really missing and what he really wants to do with his life.

The Iron Fist is it's own part of Danny's personality. His teachers at K'un-Lun had trained him to fight and hate the Hand for all that they did while not explaining the history behind the Hand or the Iron Fist. Danny put a lot of trust in his teachers, and often quotes them, to find out that he was misled and lied too about what the Iron Fist can do or is meant to do. He loses sight of who he is and what his mission is. This is a theme that continues to happen through the series. Danny doesn't always directly face his uncertainties but finds something else to stubbornly focus on. For example, he was supposed to be the protector of K'un-Lun but failed in his duty. That failure resonates in him, making him chase the Hand, hoping that it might complete him. He focused on punishing the hand instead of his own failures.

The Defenders help him find his way again and in the end he chooses to change his goal and protect the city in Dare Devils place. This is the first indication that Danny has begun to get over pieces of his past and his childhood trauma. It is a slow process but it shows that Danny is just becoming the man that he is meant to be and has a love way in his development.

POWERS/ABILITIES: Danny will not be able to have access to his fist at first. I would like to use it as an incentive. However I've listed out his abilities below so the mods would have the ability to look at the break out of his abilities.

Chi Manipulation: All of his powers fall under this one skill. Danny can harness his chi to manipulate his physical and mental capabilities, this includes summoning the Iron Fist. He is able to learn more abilities as he continues to train. He uses mediation to recharge his chi.

Iron Fist Punch: By channeling his chi, Danny is able to summon great strength to his right fist. He is resistant against injury and over a hundred times stronger; strong enough to punch Luke Cage into a wall. This takes a lot of energy and Danny has to eat a lot in order to recover his strength. Sometimes he can only summon the Iron Fist once a day. It varries.

Chi Blast: This is what the internet calls this ability but it works well for a name. Using the Iron Fist, Danny is able to release his chi outwards, in what appears to be an explosion. This is how he destroys the top floor of Rand Enterprises.

Chi Healing: This ability does not need the Iron Fist called in order to use it. He is able to direct his chi and heal people. He's done this once successfully and needs to practice in order to do more. At the moment he's rid another persons body of poison.

Enhanced Reflexes & Agility & Endurance: Channeling his chi allows Danny to super charge his focus, resilience, stamina and perception. This allows him to react to danger at a superhuman rate. This doesn't require the use of his fist, however he will often use it with his fist. He can also affect his agility with his chi, allowing him to flip over cars or take two jumps to reach a second story window. It takes a lot of energy and depending on how long he channels his chi with denote how long he needs to rest afterwards.

Martial Artist: He has exceptional mastery of Kung Fu. Taught to him during his 15 year stay in K'un-Lun.

Swordsman: Danny doesn't use swords often but his mastery of Kung Fu has taught him how to use a sword as well. In canon there are a few times that he uses a sword though it's obvious that he prefers to use his fists.

Bilingualism: English and Chinese (Mandarin).

Acrobat: Danny has this odd tendency to do things like parkour and free-running. He uses his chi and those abilities to do ridiculous things but he's naturally very acrobatic.

SAMPLES: Test Drive Post with both action and bracket threads.

ANYTHING ELSE? Nothing comes to mind.
